Teignmouth sits on the mouth of the River Teign around 5 miles east of Torquay. It is a traditional British seaside town complete with pier, sandy beach, children’s play park and theatre on the seafront green. The town centre, just behind the green, has smallish range of shops though there are a few unusual and independent shops to catch the eye.
There is plenty to do in the area, with Torquay, horse racing at Newton Abbot and the thriving city of Exeter within a short drive. There is a train station at Teignmouth on the main south west line, so is well connected to exeter, Bristol and further afield.
But the main draw is the sandy beaches along this piece of coastline, from Teignmouth itself to Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, and the coves which more intrepid explorers can discover, flanked by the red sandstone cliffs which characterise South Devon.
