- Sandy beaches and attractive coastal walks
- Pretty town centre around the park and stream
- Train station with good connections to the rest of South Devon
Dawlish sits on the South Devon coast between Torquay and Teignmouth. It is a small holiday town with a few shops and is known for the black swans which live on the river running through the town centre to the sea.
Brunel’s Great Western Railway also runs along the seafront which is often photographed when storms batter the sea defences. Dawlish has a train station with frequent connections to other holiday resorts on the South Coasts, making it a good base for exploring the area without a car.
The beaches at Dawlish and neighbouring Dawlish Warren are some of the best in South Devon with a few to choose from.
